Dish of the Day: Sister Golden Hair- America

i think i'm screwed for my speech man.
yea, the one on friday. i forgot like, half my lines.
anyhow, saturday was a whole lot better.
basically, i started my day droopy-eyed. i had to take the train all the way to toa payoh, cuz we were planning to visit old folks and all, plus give them ba zhang.
i have to admit; it was kind of a drag at first. the humidity didn't help.
i was paired with hui mun and we visited an old man called Mr Tan. looking at him really broke my heart.
he was in a wheelchair; his left ankle was sorta bloated and twisted, and the calve was sunken in. as in, there was some bone missing, and there was no flesh over it, so it looked quite disfigured. i found out later that he had a bone infection, and an inexperienced doctor operated on him and left him in that state. wad an arse.
that wasn't all. before he had that bone infection, he met with a hit-and-run accident. a motorcyclist hit him and sped off. so there was another deep scar near his disabled ankle.
mr tan was quite friendly really. we spent about an hour talking to him (i had never been so thankful that i could speak hokkien), and he told us about loads of stuff, like in WW 2 when they had to eat grass to survive, or when his uncle was stabbed to death by the japs cuz he tried to run away. he even told us about his difficulty of finding a job, his gang days (haha.. that was funny), or his only marriage, when he was only 18. his wife took their daughter and left him after a family dispute. he had been alone since then. his daughter's prolly in her 50s.
as for his siblings, they sorta came from his dad's various marriages, and all of them didnt bother to keep in contact with him. the only one he managed to locate refused to acknowledge him. how horrid is that? i can't even imagine not having my sister to push around.
so, yeap. it was quite a morning.
service was great. this ang moh pastor who lived in beijing came to talk about his Care of Children organization, and they were in the midst of putting thousands of chinese children into foster homes. there are currently more than 2 million abandoned kids in the few states that he was looking after. imagine how many orphans there really are in the whole of china.
i met up with ko ko after service and cabbed down to xinyi's for her birthday party. the food was delicious of course. :P but i kept getting teased la. everybody thought i stole the last piece pizza. huumphhh. "must be jasmine! must be jasmine! she's the pig!"
xinyi's ac friends were there too. we played this 'zhong ji mi ma', and we always forfeited a pair to do a dare. the MOST hilarious one was when wai kit had to kiss a guy. AHAHAHA. orbieee. but it was just a peck on the cheek la. then weijie pole-danced around this indian girl, who was the pole. ahahaha.
then it was my turn. they made me use my mouth to pass a sweet to another girl. gosh. it was utterly embarrassing cuz it looked like a lesbian kiss. grr.
all in all, i zonked out the moment after my shower.
zonking out now.
